$25 League Game July16

Posted by Assistanc3 On July - 17 - 2009

The second week of the Assistanc3Online Forum League was played on Thursday July 16th, this game being a $2 buyin with $50 guaranteed.  The game started with 17 players but with late registration open a couple players sneaked in the overlay tournament to make 19.  Points were on the line and players were looking for a win.

Early Going Good
For me the game started off as slow as always till I picked a decent drawing hand but not in drawing position.  Was T7h on the small blind where it was folded to me and I limped in and the big blind checked.  The flop was Ten 7 3 and it wasn’t till the Ace on the turn where I bet it up and got a call…with the Q on the river I did a larger bet and it was called by Ace rag.  Giving me an early chip lead.

Stacking off of Papa
Maybe it was a late night for ol’PapaDawg or just bad timing for a move where he ran into my Queens where he flopped a small pair and called my re-raise all-in.  I stacked up a lot of chips and started to coast to the final table staying out of trouble picking up some small pots.

Final Table
We got to the final table where I didn’t like my seating position with the slightly better aggressive players to my left and some passive players in the middle and mixed types to my right.  The chip leader and 4nd place were side by side to my left which doesn’t sound like a great place to score blinds vs known aggressive players.

I started to get low in chips and just before it was the forced short push I decided to make some moves with hands like 77 and ATsooted pushing all-in pre-flop.  Made some killer folds on the way and usually do get some credit for a hand simply because of how tight I play.

Taking out a few players and stealing some blinds I was able to get myself to the final 4 “the bubble” where I picked up Queens again.  flushop had been running hot with cards all night and when he called my all-in I was a little nervous till the turn.  He called with KTo and the flop was 999 the turn sealed the deal as another Queen hit…../phew

Yobabee went out on the bubble but still holds on to first in the leader board and Hobag who was running up and down all night with emotions settled in to 3rd leaving flushop and myself heads up for the game.

Heads Up For the Win

Seat 2: flushop          ( $22,020 )
Seat 10: Assistanc3 ( $34,980 )

With a slight chip lead and knowing flushop wants to beat me in heads up gives me the edge in this battle.  He takes down the first hand uncontested, the second hand I took on the flop and the third hand I pushed all-in after he limped on the small blind and he folded.

    Nice :)

Had a really great time as I always do in the A3 league games.
Came to the final table way short stacked, but I made some points :)

    Congrats on taking the win.
That last hand made me a lil nervous, then w00t out came the flush.

Glad to see a replay with me in it. I plan on watching it again later and taking some notes ;)
