The Day in the Life of a Donkey

Busted Out in CPC#2

Posted by Assistanc3 On July - 3 - 2009

I got an email the other day about PKR having some special tournaments set up, the Canadian Poker Championship (CPC), with a number of games being guaranteed money.  Usually PKR games that are big games are not Canadian friendly time, they made these ones friendly.  I was only interested in one game, $2000 GTD PLO.

I logged into PKR around 8pm to see how many had registered and noticed not to many so I was going to directly buyin and noticed some kamikaze .66cent satellites.  Total donkfest these types of games are as its all-in every hand, I registered and decided to play to make sure my old PC was still gonna be able to handle PKR.

Playing the Satellite

It was a heads up shoot out 10 chips, fire in the hole giver stick satellite.
My cards held up or got lucky on the river, to fast to actually keep track but in the end I came out on top to win the tournament.  Top 2 got a ticket to the $12 buyin.

CPC Event #2

The game has started and I am sitting in my folding chair.
How I wish this was Omaha Hi/Lo as my cards seem to be best for it.  Lots of low suited connectors but not worth seeing flops with even out of the small blind.  Gonna keep folding and taking notes so when the blinds get up a little higher I can make my moves when it matters.

4 players have been eliminated at my table and I haven’t seen a flop yet…
Best hands so far are J884 rainbow and J993 rainbow.
Level 3 $2900 chips 56th of 94

KhKsQh2d I call a raise and see 7 players go to a 9d7c4s flop
The original raiser leads out and I fold, it gets re-raised …2 all-in at the river and a pair of 4’s takes it down.  This is why real players don’t actually play on PKR btw, to many idiots that just like to play cause it looks cool.

AsAcQsA6 I raise to 210 (30/60 blinds) 1, 2 callers… fold, sb fold, bb fold
Jd 3d3c flop I check…., check, bet 240 I call, a fold ….Tc turn
bet 1200 , he insta raise  with 5322, I blank the river

Short stack I raise to 210 , 1 caller and fire out almost my entire stack with pot bet with pair of 5’s to steal the pot.  Still a massive short stack and now posting the big blind.

AsAd9s5d double suited pot bet of 300 , 1 caller
AQT board I bet 720 and he has KJ95  out in 79/123

There goes sixty six cents

Lol, how dare you sir! Unfortunately I am in total agreement with you. You have to dodge far too many idiots in the 1st hour or so of any tournament. I’m sure you would have had every chance had you went deep in the tourney. To be fair to PKR I have found games below $5 or so just as bad at any poker site and I’m not the only one, so we are going to be playing some Omaha Hi/Low this week for th 1st time, so I have been doing some reading up as I’m a Omaha virgin. Hope you Canadians had a great Canada Day!

PKR is horrific when it comes to a quality poker game.
I folded for 45mins then ran into those set up hands above
nothing I could do about idiots calling with junk

I’m still in shock that you played a kamikaze game, glad it worked out for you and for 66cents, was a cheap way to get into the $2k game.
Really sucks that your good cards couldn’t hold up vs boneheads who get lucky.

Mumbo.. lots of great info to be found here on Omaha
