FTP Fantasy Limit Omaha

Posted by Assistanc3 On June - 13 - 2009

I qualified for this $1000 Freeroll on FullTilt in a Fantasy Poker League.

With Freddy Deeb and Eli Elezra cashing in the Omaha 8b gave me enough points to be given a ticket to the Limit Omaha Hi-Low Split-8 or Better (8b) last night.

Usually a limit poker game does take a long time and a lot of energy to play, with this being Omaha and more players see flops I decided I was going to take the time and put the focus into this game. It is also good practice for my HORSE game where I seem to excel at Omaha and the hi/lo variants.  So after the first couple hands I realized there was many sit outs, hmmm

I was playing heads up for a good 5 minutes vs a very weak and unlucky player.

He simply did not raise me back preflop or on the flop which allowed me to take down many pots with out to much worry. Now, the unlucky part is well because when he did hit a hand I either flopped the wheel (Ace through Five Straight) or turned it, giving me scoops which is taking the high and the low.

At first break I was sitting in 96th of 768

When we came back I scored a huge pot when I was re-raising the nut low with the potential for a scoop with a straight or flush. My opponent kept firing out chips even when I made the flush taking down a big pot I was on my way up the leader board.

The blinds went up and I slowed down. Was content.

Break in 12th of 342

The game really took a turn after break when I was getting ripped apart on the river in two back to back huge pot hands. I went from a dominating chip position to almost being out. Finally catching a break after throwing a tantrum I hit the river in a big pot.

: )

In the money and moving up after side stepping some players playing over aggressive to claim sit outs chips. I won some decent pots which moved me into the chip lead for a short period of time, confidence is on the rise.

At break 3rd of 111 with $37,511 chips

I took a decent pot with 87d flush vs 43d flush, then things went downhill from there.

Checking down a pot after flopping two pair with KJ and I had pocket Queens with them losing a $45,000 pot to a turned trip 2’s….arggg I feel gutted.

From that point I only split a pot which actually cost me chips as I was the bigblind.

I couldn’t win a hand to save my life and when I was around $16,000 chips I got them into a $75k pot holding A224 with the A4 being suited I thought atleast taking a low here would help. I flop a full house 22266 and they checked it down to the river. Where I king comes out and gives a bigger full house.

After looking back at the hands and calculating the turn odds all I can say is *&$&^*@ lol

    You played a great game.
When I came to watch you were doing very well, then the river got you a couple of times and I was starting to think I was a jinx.
Was glad to see a few hands later you got right back into the game, which put a smile on my face :)

I’m learning about so many things here at your site and in this blog. Not only about how to play poker, but also poker fantasy league? Never heard of that before now and so much more.

I know you would have liked to cash out higher, but you still played well, congrats.
